Petzl Spatha Knife Description:
| The Petzl Spatha Knife was designed specifically for guide climbing, can be opened with a single hand, and fits a carabiner to a tee. But the Spatha is also a good ol’ fashioned utility knife that comes in super handy in the backcountry. Perhaps the most useful tool you can have in the backcountry is a utility knife. Petzl’s Spatha Knife is a lightweight, single blade, emergency knife perfect for cutting cord, webbing, and an array of materials you use for outdoor activity. Designed specifically for guide climbing, the Spatha can be opened with a single hand and has a clever hole in the handle that fits a carabiner to a tee. Should you ever need to escape from a belay or cut a partner loose, the Spatha will save the day. It comes in handy for less extreme adventures, as well, such as spreadin’ butter on your bagel in the morning. |

Reviews: Petzl Spatha Knife
Spatha This knife rocks man! It's got a hole in it for a biner to run through, making it easily accessible when you're on a wall, or hook it onto anything else you may need to. The blade comes super sharp (it even splits a hair.) Great tool to have in your first aid kit, or any kind of adventure backpack. I take it everytime I go hiking, fishing, and climbing. All around great investment! (Ya never know when you'll have to cut your arm off.)
Not best suited for climbing The Petzl Spatha Knife (small) has a unique and handy concept with its carabiner hole and circular ridge that is used to open the knife. Despite Petzl's claims, I find the knife difficult and dangerous to open one handed, and it is even more difficult to try this with a carabiner in the hole. A neat knife, but there are better one-handed openers for climbing.
