Reviews: Marmot Helium Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Down
Light but not as warm as I hoped The bag is wondrously light and beautifully made. But it's not as warm as I hoped—I was a bit chilly at night on a late April trip on the AT in Massachusetts (temp in low 20s). Then again I tend to be a cold sleeper. I am going to sell this bag, probably on eBay, and replace it with the Lithium, the 0 degree version of the same design.
Great for cold nights! Overheated on a 50 degree night. The bag kept me comfortably warm on a 35 degree night. Wore thin long johns both times. Backpacked 11 miles in, it's great at less than two pounds. Would have liked a longer zipper for venting, but then the bag would weigh more. Overall, I would recommend this bag for the colder outings.
rockin' bag First trip was four nights all between 20 and 30F. Never had to mummy it up. First impression sliding in was comfy, comfy, comfy. The bag heated up quickly and stayed that way. Lots of room in the toebox, very nice. The 1/2 zipper was not a problem at all. It all felt quite luxurious. The hood rocks. I have never felt less restricted with a mummy setup. The drawstring setup is outstanding. Zipper snags are much less of a problem than any other bag I have been in. Water proof cover worked well. The outside got wet, the down did not. Good deal. Highly recommend.
